Fall is in full swing here!

The hummers have left for Mexico, I presume.  I always miss them but the birds and squirrels are still around!  I got some mums in celebration of my favorite season.......

I received some Thrift Books...these books were all originally in the $20-$25 range but now they're like $4.69!  What a steal and the decoration and projects are not out of date...........timeless!

I need more books Like I need a whole in my head but after yesterday, I appreciated a little diversion.  My neighbor drove me to the eye doctor yesterday which was so kind of her and I knew my eyes were getting bad.  "Sure nuff" I have to have cataract surgery....Amy thought she could help me when she is down here the week of Thanksgiving but they are closed all that week!  So, my appointments are sometime after I take dry eye drops for awhile I need to go back for measurements, then November 9th is the right eye, the next day I have to go back to have it checked, then the left eye will be November 30th and I go back the next day to have it checked.  That is 5 trips....1 1/2 hours each way and my neighbor who is 83 is going to drive me.  I feel so bad.  I hate depending on others but if I don't have the surgery I won't be able to drive at all down the road.  I paid her for gas and wear and tear on her car.

I am still reading Grant 58% now, I finished reading Murder at an Irish Wedding and now I'm reading Assault and Batting; a quilt mystery.  I've been watching Dr. Pol on You Tube by National Geographic.  He is a world famous veterinarian and it is a wonderful show.  It's the closest I'll ever get to being one!

I also plan on watching some of these Fall movies......I am really looking forward to At Home In Mitford....I didn't know they made a movie of it....awesome!  Hopefully, I will spend my Fall watching them all!

Happy Trails!!!

I have been afraid to go to the eye doctor, too. Now I am thinking of waiting until January. Here we do have a county transportation for $3 one way and in the city there is a free senior transport. You do have to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance.

It's great that you have a neighbor who can help out. Good luck with the procedures. Will be nice to have that done before Christmas.

I hope it works out for your neighbor to take you! Glad it is scheduled and you should be able to see better afterwards. Check into any Senior Volunteer oRganizations in your area. We have one called LIving at Home and sometimes they can fill in the gaps for the elderly!

I had cataract surgery in early July and now I see better than I have in years. Really glad I had it done.

While I'm sure your friend is happy to help you, have you inquired as to whether there might be a ride service. When my hubs had cataract surgery a couple of years ago the place he had it offered rides as far away as you are to yours. The fee was very reasonable.

Becki - I did check into it and it would be $167 for one trip! There is nothing down here for the elderly.
