De-cluttering even more!!!

I had such a long post yesterday I decided to forego October 18th de-cluttering and do it today along with the 19th.  So here goes........

October 18th - Day #18 - 17 audio tapes and 1 washcloth.  I did a lot of commuting to work for hours at a time so I listened to a lot of tapes!

October 19th - Day #19 - yep....more tapes

I did manage to get my outdoor decorations outside because they predicted rain for today and they were right.  Although it hasn't rained hard or constantly.  I got my walk in today.

These 2 ghosts have been hung outside since my children were little!  I can't believe they're still around!

This is some lights and a pumpkin boy that I stuck on a little hay bale.........

I didn't sleep well last night and I am tired today but trying to push ahead.  I know why I didn't sleep well.  My daughter, the teacher, called and she thinks she might have COVID.  She doesn't have a fever but is extremely tired and all  her muscles ache.  She goes for a COVID test tomorrow.  Please say a prayer for her.  She is healthy but is prone to pneumonia and bronchitis.  Several people in her school and children have contracted COVID.   I pray for them all.  Iowa has a high incidence of the disease.

Everyone stay safe and stay well!

Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #16

Grab yourself a "cuppa" as I have lots to show you!  I have 5 FFO's....final finished objects!  Yes, you heard right 5!  The grands 2020 Halloween collectible ornaments!  Ta Dah!  They have their initials and the year on them in the lower left corner.

Here's the back of them...I used Lori Holt's tutorial on finishing and I used little black "light bulb"safetypins and my vintage buttons.

I also final finished my 2 ornaments.............

and the backs.......

I worked on my Brill shawl but I ran out of yarn!  See that little tiny ball of blue yarn on the right?  I only got one row of blue and a little bit more out of 1 skein!  The pattern called for 1 skein and there are 10 rows of blue!  Huh?  I knit tightly too so this pattern was way off!  This was from Pom Pom magazine.  When I bought the pattern there were no notices that there was a mistake and it is from an older magazine.  Part of the reason I wanted to make it was it only called for 3 skeins of yarn.  So, I will be ordering more yarn for sure!  I love it so I will definitely finish it!

I worked on my sock when I ran out of yarn on Brill....I will continue to until the yarn arrives

I also worked on When Witches Go Riding by Prairie Schooler......love this and love working on it!  This week I did the owl and the branch and the words on that area....

The last thing I worked on was the red bird cross stitch using silk thread which is a dream to work with.....

Now for acquisitions and I have a whole bunch!  They all came in at once even though I ordered them weeks apart............first, a sewing notebook with zippered bags for patterns and such..........this was from Lori Holt at Fat Quarter Shop.  I 'm hoping this will help me to be more organized.....

Some Flea Market fabric and some Christmas fabric..........charm packs which are 5" squares.  I love the flea market mix and may be ordering yardage for curtains later on.

This is a pattern I've been wanting..........and I need to order the box to put it in!

Now, get ready for the grand finale!  Coming to America Celebrating 400 years!  1620 - 2020 by With Thy Needle and Thread......this is the box it came in..........

It came with everything but the fabric........and more!

It came with hand-dyed floss and the pattern.......
It also included another pattern about the harvest, a little pilgrim girl needle minder, a little pamphlet on the history of the women of the Mayflower, a sticker to fill out and put on the back of your needlework when finished, a needle card and another little photo....

I am over the moon about this kit!  I got it though Kitten Stitcher.  I have to find fabric for it but I will definitely start in 2020 even though I know I won't finish it then but this is the anniversary year so I must start it this year.  It's been out for awhile but I just didn't know about it.  L O V E!!!

I also got some Fall candles from Bath and Body as I had a coupon and they were having a sale!  These 2 fragrances are over the top!  So good!  The first one is Dutch Apple Waffle.....yum!

The second one is Pumpkin Snickerdoodle...another YUM!

I haven't burned them yet but I have been lifting the lids and taking a few whiffs!   My daughter told me they now have a BOGO for their candles and new scents!  Uh oh!  I may have to take a look!  Part of my stockpiling for Winter you know!

I hope you've had a great week, and that you are well and safe.

Happy Trails!!!

Saturday De-cluttering

This one was easy thank goodness!  I found a treasure trove of old audio tapes...bye-bye!  There's more where these came from too!

Today was crafting day!  Tune in tomorrow to see what I "crafted".

I need to decorate for Halloween too so I started dragging stuff up from the basement.  It looks like I'd better get the outside decorations up since they are predicting rain for the next few days.

I hope you had a wonderful day and thank you all for your loving comments yesterday....you are so kind to  me.  You have all helped me more than you know!  Hugs~Sam

Friday de-cluttering

Yes, 16 items for the 16th of October!  Item #1 is a heavy pair of boots that belonged to my son, Jim.  Some of this stuff was his.  I already had taken a bunch to Goodwill last year but then I couldn't do it anymore so I gave it a rest.  It is easier now.

There are 10 hats in that pile that all belonged to Jim.  I emailed my daughter and asked if she wanted any of them for her family.  I haven't heard back yet.  There's a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans. 2 audio tapes and a duffle bag.

For supper I am having one of my favorite meals...............here's the link

It is linguine, with roasted broccoli, pine nuts,  and goat cheese.....healthy and delicious!  P.S.   I can't find goat cheese here so I use feta and I double the feta.

I hope you had a good day and that you are getting ready to enjoy your Friday night!

Happy Trails!!!

Throwing Out Thursday!

Moving right along!  I have 3 garbage bags full as of this post!  This is Day 15 and this is what is leaving my house..........Here we have 1 pair of jeans, 3 blouses, 1 sweater, a dog harness, a dishcloth, a pan scrubber, 2 books on tape, a duffle bag, a plant pot, a hair squigee(?), a plastic file, and another glasses case.

The more items per day does take longer but it is such a good feeling to get these bags corraled in my basement so at least I can see some progress and when I can once again go to Good Will I will be ready!!!

Here is the wonderful mulch I have been talking about.  I went outside and took a picture of it......

It rained this morning but I took my walk after it stopped.  It's cooled down, no hummers and the leaves are really starting to change color and drop.  No more 80 degree days either....more like 60's now which is just what I like!

Happy Trails!!!

Willpower Wednesday!!!

It's been a busy day and there's still more to do.  My mulch arrived last night at 8:00 p.m. and Ken, the truck driver called when he was about 15 minutes away.  I went out this morning and it was 10 bags of mulch in 2 huge boxes, wrapped in black plastic and  on a wooden pallet.  I was going to take a walk this morning but getting the mulch all unpacked was major excercise especially lifting those 10 bags! I stored the pallet and boxes in the garage until garbage day.  The pallet I'll keep.  It will be perfect for repairing my shed door.  I did get rid of 12, 13, and 14 items today so I am all caught up!

Day #12 October 12th - 5 National Geographic magazines, 5 books, a plant pot and a dishcloth

Day #13 - October 13th - 5 books, salt & pepper shakers, a fancy dog collar/scarf, a purse, a pair of socks, a hoodie, a pair of shoes, some fencing and 2 little jars.

Day #14 October 14th - at the top left are my great old canoeing pants; they dry in a flash and the legs zip off as it gets hotter during the day and you're left with shorts on!  I loved those pants and I loved canoeing!  There are 2 tank tops, a book, a National Geographic magazine, an audio tape, a metal holder of some kind, an odd plate, a dog collar another pair of socks. an apple pillow, a dream catcher, a disposable camera and a horse picture (collage) in a frame.

This is really awesome as I am having no trouble finding lots of  things to get rid of....I may do this next month too! LOL!  I could probably do it for a year and still not run out of things!

I think my hummers are finally gone...the last time I saw them was on the 12th.  I have to wait a few more days and then register the date with the hummingbird organization that keeps track of when they leave and when they come back all over the U.S.

I did get more tomatoes and beans......not bad for container gardening

I also paid bills today and had to report a scam to my propane company.  I got a bill from a collection agency for over $500 with my propane account number on it and I don't owe them any money!  They are looking into it.  Scammers!  They're everywhere!

I hope you are enjoying these Fall days....it is just gorgeous here except it's been windy and there are now fire danger warnings.  Stay safe and stay well!

Happy Trails!!!

Minimalist Challenge for 9, 10, and 11 items!

Yes, I'm still behind but I will catch up!  My back gives out before the items do! LOL!

Here's Day #9 - October 9th

This group contains a set of pillowcases, 3 self-improvement tapes (you wonder why I am so improved?  That's why!  I don't listen to them anymore as I figure I'm just about perfect now... lol!), a fleece jacket, a fleece vest, a pair of crop jeans, a blouse and a pair of socks.

Day #10 October 10th

Here we have a magnetic photo frame, a grandma's brag book for photos, nail clippers (new), a Dish remote, a silk evening purse,  4 pairs of socks and a nail brush.

Day #11 October 11th

There's an apple corer, a book on tape, a dish cloth, headphones, plastic files, a glasses case, dowels, a cat collar, 2 pairs of slippers, and a set of pillow cases

Whew!  I'm on my second garbage bag to go to the basement!  Yippee!

Yesterday was bread making day, the hummers are still here and I got the garbage out for the week

The pest control guy came and he and his wife just had a baby girl....they have 2 girls and 2 boys.  She's a  nurse and just went back to work.  He's such a nice young man.  He checked the house for termites and did the pest control.  We both wore masks.

I got a wonderful gift yesterday from Arkansas BCBS.  They sent a good health box with a purse size bandaid holder with bandaids, a pedometer, hand sanitizer, a pen, disinfectant wipes, a Sodoku puzzle book, a pill dispenser and a nice mask!  I truly needed all those things!  LOL!

My mulch didn't show up so I called again and this time I got to talk to the truck driver and he was very nice and said he would deliver it today but it probably won't be until 7:00 p.m. or later.  They are really swamped with COVID and everyone ordering so much online.  I may have to stay up later than usual and I may have to wait to get my pj's on although I don't have to be out there but just in case.

I hope you had a good Monday and that your Tuesday is going well so far.

Happy Trails!!!
