What a beautiful Fall we are having here!

It has been so beautiful this year...the colors, the temps, the no humidity....it's  heaven!  This is just in my yard.......

Yesterday was cooking and baking..........my usual bread............

and then I made Penzeys Beer, Brat and Cheddar soup............one of my favorites that I have been making for many, many years!  Here's a link

Today I made blueberry muffins.....these are the best!   The recipe is on All Recipes and they are called Cream Cheese Blueberry Muffins by Glulyfafuly.....you will not regret making these!

Remember the accident-filled week I had last week?  Well, I saw something on You Tube about 5 great exercises for older people....so I tried them and I pulled a groin muscle! LOL!  I can't help but laugh except when I try to lift that leg!  But it's already feeling better and it doesn't interfere with my walk.

I got my Deer Christmas fabric in the mail yesterday but forgot to take a picture.  Other than that I changed sheets today, cleaned litter boxes and refreshed the litter, and washed a load of clothes.  I filled water bottles, watered plants inside and out.  My tomatoes are still producing!  I fed my sourdough and now I need to go fill the bird feeder.  I've had 3 birds so far that I've seen.

I hope you had a great day where you are and stay well and stay safe!

Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #19

Week #19 already?  Wasn't it just July?  Halloween is over and Thanksgiving in America is on the horizon!  My favorite time of year for sure.  This was a great week in the Ozarks!  The colors are at peak and probably on the down slope now but the temps are wonderful and it is just an awesome time of year here and no fire danger so far!

This was a good crafting week also...........

I finished the heel flap and gusset on sock number 1........onto the foot!  I wish I would have knitted them consecutively as that is my favorite way of sock knitting but I was too lazy to separate the skein at the time.  I just wanted to start knitting.

I worked on Coming to America and started it specifically on Election Day and it is my Thanksgiving cross stitch project.  Not much to see yet as I am doing the border...

I finally got my "rear in gear" and cut out the fabric and stiffener for Amy's Frida Kahlo basket....what is this year 3?  I ironed them and then got one sewed together with the stiffener tucked inside and I just need to hand sew the 4th side together.  Then I have to do the same to the other 3 sides.

I was able to complete another hexie diamond....#6 of 11 full ones and then there are some half ones  that need to be done.

Here are  the diamonds that are completed from before............

Here are the next ones ready to be stitched together into diamond #7

As for stash this week........I nabbed a couple charm pack 5" squares and there is one more on the way..........Deer Christmas

That's all for this week!  I hope to catch up with everyone this afternoon unless I take a nap and then it may be tomorrow! LOL!

BTW, for those of you keeping track of my accidents this past week, you can add one more...I burnt my hand with some hot grease this morning frying bacon!  But they are all small things which is much better than one BIG thing for sure!

I hope you are all well and safe!

Happy Trails!!!

Happy Friday!!!

I've had another great day.  I'm not even sore from my fall yesterday!  I  took my walk and again it is beautiful here....Fall and Spring are beautiful in the Ozarks.  I had to change some light bulbs today in difficult places but I got it done but cut my hand on one.  I wonder what my horoscope was this month as I have had more accidents this week than I have all year!  But none are serious thank goodness. In fact, since my fall yesterday my back feels better and I didn't get so tired nor did my legs hurt on my  walk.  I think maybe the good lord put my back, back into alignment!  A miracle!  I'll see if I still feel good tomorrow....so happy!

I worked on my hexies again..............

I also picked out the material for the next one.........

I got 2 books in the mail.  Another Southern Sister's mystery and there's one more of these coming...

and a book I have wanted for years but wouldn't pay the high price which was $35 - $55 at one time!  I caught it on sale for $17 so I grabbed it!  I fell in love with this book when it first came out but it was so expensive....it is a beautiful cook book and so is their farm in Tennessee.

I used to have a rope swing like that...........I swung out over a big ravine and it was thrilling!  The tree and the swing are both gone now.......

I made bread dough, ordered some material and did some Christmas shopping online.  I did some general chores and that was my day.  I've been listening to the election news as it is getting close I think!   Friday's are my craft days usually so it has been relaxing and all the windows are open.  I'm taking advantage of it while I can!

Pizza is on the menu for tonight!  I hope you have an enjoyable Friday night!

Happy Trails!!!

It's Fall alright and I took it literally today!

 It was a beautiful morning........

I took my walk and then came back and got some pictures in my yard....I think peak color is fading....trees turn colors at different  times and it's about a "week of peak" and we are on the downside now.

Crazy  me...I was washing my picture window....the only window I have to go outside and wash and for some reason I thought I was on the first step of my stepladder but I wasn't so when I stepped down it was longer than I thought!  I fell backwards and bit my tongue but the rest of me is okay. I'm blessed for sure because I could have really hurt myself but I didn't!  PTL!

The window is cleaner but not perfect but it is better than it was before and the cobwebs are gone.  Whew!  I got quite a bit done today.  Took my walk, picked up prescriptions, did some vacuuming and put up one finished shelf in my pantry!  This is shelf paper/plastic that I got at Walmart from Pioneer Woman!  Love it!

One shelf done and reloaded!

I also finished all the hexies for 1 diamond which I think is 40 of them.  I'll hopefully sew them together tonight.  I forgot how much I enjoy sewing them.

I hope you are having a great day and great weather!  Stay safe and stay well!

Happy Trails!!!

Making Space

Today is the first day of Making Space for What Matters.   It was initiated by Becki over at Field Lilies.  She got rid of 15 items today.  I didn't count mine but I cleaned out my pantry and got rid of out of date items and then did some painting..........this pantry is in the garage but right outside my kitchen.

This is what I call my "magic"paint!  It's Kilz paint and primer in one and you can use it inside and outside..perfect!  I got 2 coats on a few things but mostly one coat.  This is 1 coat......

this is 2 coats.........

So that's my Making Space and Sprucing Up! LOL!

I stayed up until 8:30 last night watching the election returns and broadcasts.........then I got up at 2:30 to see how it was going!  I've been going ever since!  I did a load of laundry, worked on my sock on breaks.  I'm doing the gusset. I also made a pineapple cream cheese pie.........I usually make it peach but I had no peaches but I did have some pineapple.  I took a picture of it but it didn't show up.

I did work on my Coming to America XS last night...........

Guess what else I dug out of the archives?  My hexies!  Remember those?  I was making diamonds out of them?  They're great for watching t.v..........

That's all for today!  I think I'll go do some ironing and catch up on the election news.

Happy Trails!!!

Election Day 2020!!!

I hope you all got your vote in!  I mailed mine in about a month ago.  I didn't blog yesterday as I was busy but not doing anything blog worthy just Monday chores.  We had out first frost Sunday night so I covered all my plants because there was not another frost in the forecast for the next 10 days!  Yesterday there was garbage to get out, uncover the plants, laundry, clean litter boxes, and water.  I also made my menu, grocery list and ordered the groceries.  I made a batch of sourdough pancakes  yesterday morning.  I can heat up a couple in the microwave for breakfast when I want.  They are so good!

This morning I picked up my groceries and they were out of 7-Up....can you imagine?  They also did not have one of my vitamins but that's not unusual....I usually have to order those online to be delivered.  I got everything unloaded, un-bagged in the garage, brought into the house and disinfected and put away!  Whew!

Yesterday there was a cardinal at my bird feeder and later when I went out to take the blanket off of my beans there was a fox in my yard!  I had one on my front porch years ago but this is only the 2nd one I've seen here.  I love foxes!  That was special.  I also put some oranges and peanut butter in the feeder.  I need to order some suet too.

I'm still getting things from my little container garden.............this might be the last........although there are still flowers and this week it will be in the 70's...so we shall see how long I can keep it going.

I kitted up my Coming to America cross stitch and I am starting it today in honor of Election Day and also for Thanksgiving and the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower arriving here.  This cross stitch is a tribute to the women of the Mayflower.

I'm all set and I love my little Pilgrim Lady needle minder!

I'll be stitching and watching the returns and I got some triscuits and cheese spread and tortilla chips and dip.....let the party begin!

Happy Trails!!!

YOP Week #18

Not a lot to show this week.  I was really focusing on the de-cluttering and I think Becki said I got rid of  465 items!!!!  Yay!!!  It's done now except we are going to be continuing on a slower pace on Wednesdays or Thursdays...thank you Becki!

I did not get my When Witches Go Riding done by Halloween but close!  I'm pretty sure it will be gracing my wall next Halloween..........

I was a bit tired of cross stitch and Connie mentioned she was starting a bunch of crochet so of course, all of a sudden, I wanted to crochet!  Plus Lori Holt had some podcasts and tutorials about crochet so I dragged out my old acrylic yarns and made some granny squares...........different sizes.....what a great way to use up the stash!  I made 2 of each kind the same.  Lori made some cute little "pillows" with them and also a big pillow cover...we'll see but it sure felt good to have the old hook in hand again!  I weave in the ends while watching t.v.

There's no haul this week either but there will be soon!  I need to kit up Thanksgiving and Christmas projects.  I watched Pumpkin Hollow podcast and it is cross stitch and quilting, plus, The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch.  Did I tell you I won a free pattern from them last week?  I can't show you because it is just the pattern no photo.  I also watched Celeste Creates and Colorado Stitcher.  Colorado Stitcher is the owner of The Loopy Ewe!

I've  heard cross stitchers talk about "rotations" and discovered that some work on certain projects on certain days and rotate them through the week or month.  I'm going to do that with all my projects as some I never get to.  I need to figure out my projects and set up a time table and then I will let you know how it works out.

I took my walk this morning.  It's gorgeous weather this week and next.  In the 50's and 60's and sunny.  I have outside work to do this coming week plus menu and grocery list and order tomorrow probably.  I need to figure out what I will have for Election Night Party....like I can stay up past 8:00 p.m.  LOL!  I'll just have to start early and I think there is coverage starting at 3:00 p.m.  I have always been a political and news junky.   BTW...please V O T E!  I have always voted as it hit home to me early on  that when my Mother was born women did not have the right to vote!  Amazing!

I made myself a nice breakfast this morning...bacon and eggs and toast....so good!  I'm doing some laundry and now I'm going to kick back and relax.  I hope you are having a good weekend and that you enjoyed Halloween.  Here are my grands in their costumes..............Grayson as Scooby Doo......not sure what the tongue is for....although Scooby does pant...like a dog! LOL!

and Sam as a National Geographic Photographer...great job boys!!!
Happy Trails!!!
