Too much going on in the Fall....but I love it! Still getting things from the garden. We have a long growing season here. I'm gathering acorns, marigolds, and goldenrod for dyeing fiber. I'm also preserving herbs and planting some Fall plants, and some inside the house, like lettuce.
There's cleaning, painting and so much more! Whew! But when I get tired I sit and stitch so here is what I got done..........
and a start on the first ornament which is a cat...........these ornaments are from the same Prairie Schooler pattern as my stitchery above.
I got another row done on my bed quilt............
It's also football season and although I can't watch them I am able to listen to them via www.freefootballradio.com Yesterday I was able to listen to the Iowa Hawkeyes beat Kent State and today I am listening to the Chicago Bears on their way to a win over the Cincinnati Bengals! Go Bears! What a great weekend this has been!I received my long armed scrubber with attachments. It's charged and ready to go tomorrow! I'll let you know how it works. On Sundays I plan the coming week and the priorities. If I didn't get everything done last week it gets forwarded to this week. I have categories and my Creative category is the longest list! LOL!
As for cooking, I made a white chicken chili and some biscuits with sausage gravy this week....both very tasty!
I finished 2 books; Arctic Homestead - The True Story of One Family's Survival and Courage in the Alaskan Wilds - Norma Cobb and Charles Sasser
This was an excellent book and it got 5 stars which I rarely give. I couldn't put it down! I also finished The Winds of Skilak - A Tale of True Grit, True Love, and Survival in the Alaskan Wilderness.....another winner! It's amazing how well written these books are by novice writers. I am now reading Winds of Skilak: The Continuing Saga which is also good. I've always contended that true life is much more interesting than fiction and these books testify to that!
As for what I've been watching.......Friday Night Lights and Madame Secretary series on Netflix and Father Brown on Britbox, another series.
I hope you had a great week and that you were able to indulge in some things that brought you joy!
Happy Trails!!!

I am waiting to hear about the scrubber! If it is everything you hope, please take a picture for us :) Meanwhile - love the Halloween projects.
Another row on your quilt is good. How many rows will it take to complete it? Your XS is coming along and you just might get all the Halloween ones done before the date.
I look forward to seeing and reading how your lettuce growing will go inside, Sam. You are so productive! And you're going to be dying fibers? How fun. I enjoyed watching Friday Night Lights years ago, but I also had a vertigo attack watching it one night - I think due to their jerky camera movement (it's an intentional filming technique, but I can't tolerate it, evidently). Not sure if I finished the series after that. I found Madame Secretary interesting while it lasted. I've been watching the original Upstairs, Downstairs lately. Seems kind of cornily done after watching Downton Abby, but I'm enjoying it enough to keep watching. ;^)
Your cross stitches are so cute. I can see making cross stitch ornaments. I've decided I want our small Christmas tree in Florida to be all handmade ornaments and garlands. That should give me some fun projects over the next few years.
Nice cross stitch finish! Yes it is a real busy time of year. Hope you have a great week Sam:)
Those Father Brown characters are so funny!you might like The Paradise or Mr Selfridge if you have Britbox. Lots of beautiful costumes and good storylines.
I have to get started on the Christmas ornaments for our family. I haven't found any that I like in my few pattern books I kept. I need to get busy though. There is always so much to do now that we're with family. Lots more responsibilities, etc. And the new puppy takes up an unreasonable amount of time and energy. :-)
Please let us know how the scrubber works.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I love the Prairie Schooler patterns. I stitched the bigger piece you're working on last year and LOVE having it out for the Halloween season!
Your Prairie Schooler stitching is looking great! Those are on my 'one day' list.
Your quilt is looking so great!! Congrats on the progress.
And as always, I'm impressed with your cross stitch projects, they are both delightful!
Wow you’ve made so much progress on your xs and it’s looking great and this is me playing catch up on last week’s post so imagine today’s post you will be further on. Somewhere in my mind I think one day I will make a quilt, in the meantime I will enjoy seeing yours grow.
I am glad you can at least listen to your football games. My parents used to listen to the games with friends and my Dad had a big chart drawn with the field and they would move the players around on the chart to visualize the game! Very clever I thought.
