Happy New Year!!!

I was  in bed with lights out at 8:00 p.m.....We really do revert to our childhood as we age!  I had a nice day yesterday and got to watch a football game.  It wasn't a good game but it was a game.  I have chosen my word for 2021..............ACTION!!!  As in actions speak louder than words.  Hopefully, my actions will line up with my goals for this year and beyond.

I have black-eyed peas in the crock pot with ham and bacon and seasonings.  I have never made them before but this year I decided I needed all the luck I could muster up so black-eyed peas it was!

I also made some more "turtles"...they are so good and too easy to make! LOL!

I got my fabrics cut out for some project bags and I have more fabric coming! The fabric on the left is the lining and the fabric on the right is the outside and then I have enough to do a reverse bag too.  I got this fabric several years ago and I loved it but as with all things I love, I hate to use them for fear I will wreck them but as I have aged I have become much braver!  This is the time to take risks!  What do I have to lose at my age? LOL!

Several of you asked for the banana bread recipe from Olivia over at Pumpkin Hollow so here it is..

2 C flour

3/4 t baking soda

1/2 t salt

1 C sugar

3 mashed bananas

1/2 C softened butter

2 large eggs beaten

1/4 C sour cream

2 t vanilla

1/2 C nuts

In medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.  Set aside.  In large bowl (this is where I used my Kitchenaide mixer) combine bananas, eggs, butter, sour cream, and vanilla.  Add flour to wet ingredients and mix well.  Fold in nuts and pour into greased loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-55 minutes....actually mine was quite done at 50 minutes so next time I'll try 45.  Insert a toothpick to ensure it is done.  Cool for 5 minutes and the turn out of pan.

If you want to know the Goodreads Choice Awards for this past year in all categories here is the link

and now for a little humor to start off the year........

Happy Trails!!!

Happy New Year again. Thank you for the banana bread recipe and sorry to be a nuisance but when the recipe says 'C',I assume that stands for cup? Looking forward to seeing your black eyed pea dish.

Happy New Year Sam! Thank you for the recipe. I'll be sure to try it out when I next have banana's.
We didn't make it to midnight either, although we both woke up when the fireworks started and said "Happy New Year" and promptly went back to sleep! We're such partiers.
You'll have to let us know how your black-eyed peas turned out. I've never had them before but Dennis said he would like to try them.
I'm making homemade beef and bean burritoes this evening. Whoo-hoo!
Right now we're sitting in Dennis's office because he had an emergency come up. I came along just to get out for awhile. I haven't gone anywhere in a long, long time. We're the only ones in the building so I assume it's safe. :-)
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

I have had black eyed peas...years ago we had a Cajun friend and his family visited with a trunk full of food...I should try them again as I have forgotten what they taste like! You will have to tells us how they were! I heard someplace recently that they meant good luck on New Years Day. Who knew! Apparently you did.
I tried a new bun recipe today...they can be started about 1 1/2 hours before you eat so they are served warm...although cooled off they were good too. I will blog about them some day:) Happy New Year!!

HA! I definitely did some tp'ing of homes when I was a kid. Now it's become an item for hoarding. :/ We had black-eyed peas, rice and cabbage on the last day of December. Figured we'd get a head start on the good luck. :) I have definitely realized with time that there is absolutely no reason to keep anything. If we've got it, we should use it. So cut away on that fabric and enjoy the process whatever the outcome may be. Wishes for a healthy, happy new year.

Yes, C is for cup, a small t is for teaspoon and a large T is for tablespoon. You are NOT a nuisance! I should have been clearer. Happy New Year again to you too! LOL!
