Harvesting!!!

Who knew I would have this much luck with my container gardening?  It's going really well!  I've gotten lots of tomatoes, 1 eggplant so far and lots of banana peppers. I'm watering every day as it is hot!  91 F right now.  I water in the morning when it is still 70's or 80's.  No humidity though.  Evidently the high temps burn it up! LOL!

I have more peppers in the frig.

I also vacuum sealed all the meat I bought the other day.  I split everything into 1 lb packages which is easier for recipes and for me..........I sealed up 3 lbs of chicken breast tenders, and 3 1/2 lbs of chicken thighs....yes, I  use this old scale of mine all the time............the vacuum sealer is one of the best investments I ever made!

I got this big box of Smartfood snack popcorn in the mail from my daughter!  There's 3 different kinds; Kettle Corn, Cheddar and regular.....perfect for a mid afternoon snack and low in calories too!

Since the dogs are gone, the squirrels are moving right in!  This little guy/gal was too cute....you could tell it was a young one as his tail was really scraggly.....not bushy yet.

That's all for today.  I'm roasting some tomatoes with garlic and oil which I'll mix with some spaghetti and fresh basil for supper.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Happy Trails!!!

What a harvest! I would agree that you are having great success with container gardening. Just hope the squirrels don't bother the tomatoes.

Ih my, those tomatoes look yummy. The banana peppers would be great roasted and added to a sandwich. Yum. We love our vacuum sealer. When meat is on sale we stick up and the sealer is our best friend for keeping freezer burn at bay. Your spaghetti recipe sounds really good. And your snack box is a great afternoon snack.

Your counter looks like my counter. We are cutting our tomatoes in fat slices, seasoning with salt, pepper and Penzy Italian seasoning - so good! A bite of sunshine! I just finishing cutting tops off the banana peppers slitting half way vertically and stuffing with pepperoni wrapped around cream cheese. I will be sticking these under my broiler, but my son roasts them on the grill. And, everyone is sharing a few of their sweet corn purchases from the farm stands. This has been the best year for corn around here - it is just so delicious and flavorful. I really need to buy some to freeze. Unfortunately it is almost time for another 1/4 of steer so I am too nervous to fill the freezer.

Nice looking produce. I have a vacuum sealer on my list of wants! My tomatoes are ripening more everyday, good thing my other baby brother likes them in his lunch!

Oh, the stuffed banana peppers sound delicious! I may have to try them! Yes, my daughter brought sweet corn from Iowa when she came and I certainly enjoyed it!

They have a $39 vacuum sealer I've seen advertised. It works with any bag evidently.
