Finally pinned!!!

This was awful....lol!  I had to get down on the floor and pin this entire quilt and scoot around......it is not an activity for an elder person!  Never again!  No wonder people send their quilts out to a long arm quilter.....no pinning!!!  You just give them the top and the rest they do and when you get it back all you have to do is bind it.  Whoa Nellie!  This was a small quilt too!   Next time it will be done on my dining room table!  I didn't use it because that is where my sewing machine and cutting mat etc. are plus lots of other "stuff".  Anyway, it's pinned and now I have to find a free motion quilting accessory for my machine and figure out how to lower the feed dogs......the pins are supposed to be a fist length apart....if I ever make a larger quilt I will have to get more pins for sure..............

When did it happen that I couldn't get up off the floor without a real struggle?  So many things lost in old age and some you don't always realize right away....until.............

Anyway...it's done and I learned that I will never do that again! LOL!  My hip is still hurting today!

Happy Trails!!!

When I'm gardening, I use one of those kneeling pads which takes the pressure of the old knees. I've had x-rays done on both knees and was told it's just 'wear and tear' on the cartilages. You can get those kneeling pads with 'arms' attached that you can hold on to when getting back up. Nothing wrong with using whatever mobility aids work. Your quilt is going to look fabulous. Have a great week, my friend. x

Isn't amazing how easy it is to get down on the floor but getting up is a whole new ballgame. I now understand those commercials about "help, I've fallen and I can't get up". I use to chuckle at them. Not anymore. The RA doesn't help either. That quilt will be so pretty when completely finished.

I don't do my own quilting unless it is small, like table runners, wall hangings, etc. Getting up and down on the floor gets harder every time!

The last quilt I made was for a king size bed and I said I would never do that again. Ever. Getting old definitely isn't for sissy's.
Blessings,
Betsy

It's been a while, but the last time I went to our church hall, moved 3 8' tables together and laid it out there. I used do it on the floor. Not anymore!!!

Boy, do I hear you. Getting down on my knees to work in the garden I'm afraid the neighbors probably wonder if I'm going to manage to get back up. So far I have, but I don't think it's a pretty sight. Your Christmas quilt is so pretty Sam. I'm glad you managed to get it pinned together.
