YOP Week #50 Year 11

Hello everyone!  Happy Sunday!  It was a busy week here but not craft wise....all I could manage was some cross stitch and crocheting on the giant granny square in the evenings.  I was gone 3 days out of the week just about.

I do have a finish though.........my Blackbird Saturday stitch is done and I'm pretty sure I will be making it into a pincushion........it the first and only time I have stitched on linen.  I had to use a hoop to do it.....

I did work on my Sabbath Sunday cross stitch last Sunday but forgot to take a picture of it.........I worked on the Star XS most of the week...........I finished the 3rd star in the top row and I'm almost finished with the 2nd star in the 2nd row....5 done and 11 more to go

I received my floss for my memorial XS for my son.  I'd like to get it finished and framed by July which will be the 3rd anniversary of his passing but that is probably wishful thinking.  I've pulled it out a few times before to work on and just couldn't bring myself to do it but now I think I can handle it.  I'm not sure about the girl with the red hair....I have gray hair that I wear in a bun but I am not talented enough to make that kind of a change.

I think I'll be wrapping up the Giant Granny Square shortly.....it is way bigger that the other one and big enough for a blanket for my bed..........I have 2 more skeins I want to use and then I need to choose a border and a yarn for it..........

That's all for this week of "making" but hopefully today I can wrap up a few projects and do some sewing this afternoon.  This week is HOT here.....heat advisories all week...high 90's and above!  I'll have to go out at night if I want to get any yard work done!  LOL!

Happy Trails!!!

A beautiful finish Sam! I think the tribute to your son is going to be lovely. You can always just change the hair to grey and have it flowing like in the picture.
It's supposed to be 102 here tomorrow and upper 90's all week. It will not be fun! Weeding in the teeny-tiny garden will have to happen in the evenings.
Take care and stay cool.
Blessings and love,
Betsy

What a beautiful cross stitch for remembering your son. Such a wonderful sentiment. Best wishes with the heat. We are also due for 90s with the heat index in the 100s.

I agree with the suggestion to make the red hair grey . A wonderful keepsake of memories of your son.

I think a pin cushion is a great idea. Look at the size of your giant granny square! Wow! Love it! Yo I have gotten quiet a bit done fir having been gone 3 days thus week. It is super hot here too....111 - 113° all this coming week. I just hibernate in the house unless I go into the pool.

Congratulations on your xstitch finish. That piece will make a nice pin cushion. Your stars are looking nice as well. The granny square is really big. You are close to a finish on that one, too.

I think making the hair grey will work well and it’s a lovely way of continuing to remember him. It doesn’t seem like 3 years ago, how quickly time passes. Your bed square looks amazing. Send me about 15°F and we can both have nicer weather. It’s been cool and wet here but I suppose that’s preferable to such heat you have there. But it’s depressing having grey days. Liz

All your projects look great! Hope you’re staying cool this week! We’re also under heat advisories this week. We’ve been hiding out in the a/c.
