YOP Week #51 Year 11

This was a productive week in the craft arena.....but unfortunately then the house suffers....what's up with that?  I've started on the border of the Giant Granny Square blanket......I've had enough....and it's big enough.........the border will be 3 or 4 rounds and either one color or several.....I haven't decided yet

Here is the Sabbath Cross Stitch that I didn't show last week.........

I worked a bit on my son's XS.................

Since I finished the Blackbird Saturday gloved hand XS.........I started another Blackbird design.......this was really for Fall but it is a small Blackbird and it was all kitted up so I went with it...........fall and Halloween designs and colors are my favorite.........

I also worked on the Star XS and I have 6 stars done and only 10 more to go!

I finished Grayson's tie and started on Sam's.........his is the adult size because he is so tall.  The reason they are black is because Sam is in orchestra and Grayson is in choir and they usually require a white shirt, black pants and a black tie.  It is a boring color to knit but it's good project for watching t.v.

You're not going to believe this but I actually did some sewing!  Finally!  I cut out the backing for the Christmas quilt and seamed it together.  Today I will press the seam open and hopefully get it all laid out and pinned for quilting....the backing, the batting, and the quilt top.  After that will come a first for me....free motion quilting. I need to order a special attachment for my machine and see if I can lower the feed dogs but if not I'll order a thicker throat plate which will accomplish the same thing.   I'm excited!

I got some treasures in the mail which will be part of YOP 2022-2023 plans.........

This book has some darling embroidery projects but it also has all sorts of finishing ideas for projects whether embroidery, quilting, or cross stitch...........

Next week will be the "wrap-up" of all we've accomplished this past YOP season.....I'm afraid I have more WIPs than finishes but we'll see.  Maybe I'll surprise myself.  I hope all the Dads have a happy Father's Day!

Happy Trails!!!

How great that you are on the boarder of the Giant Granny Square. How do you do the border? Do you just single crochet all around it for several rows? Your Sabbath xstitch is coming along quickly as is your son's xstitch. Your star xstitch is coming along nicely too. I like your new Blackbird xstitch. How cool is it to make neckties for your grandsons. They will treasure them for years to come. How exciting you are getting ready to finish up your Christmas quilt. Your got some great treasures. It will be fun to see what you decide to make from the books.

Congrats on being able to knit with black yarn. I want to knit a black shrug so we will see how it goes. I plan to carry a silver sequin thread with it and I'm hoping that will make it easier to see. I also plan to make a Halloween cowl so that will be lots of black. Fingers crossed. Your Granny Square blanket is so colorful. All your cross stitches are beautiful. I'm sure they are treasured.

I always love seeing all your different projects on your blog. I admire your knitting with black. I just made one wee little beard for my gnome in black and that was enough for me.

Hi Sam! My you're busy and it shows. You made so much progress this week. I especially love the memory cross stitch for your son. The script pattern is very pretty. All of your cross stitches are great. We like a lot of the same type of patterns. Your granny is almost done and I'm just starting one. A modern rectangle granny for our bed. The afghan on there now has been used on the bed for about 15+ years and shows it. It needs to go in the trash. Dogs, cats and kids have all used it and wrapped up in it.
Take care my dear friend. Stay cool. It's SO hot and humid here and I imagine it's the same there.
Blessings,
Betsy

I love that your granny square blanket is near completion! Huge projects like that, regardless of how fun they are, are always a relief to finish! I'm excited to see what new colorful crochet projects you work up in the future!

The quilt will be so lovely! A friend of mine rents a machine at a local quilt shop to do her free-motion quilting on.

Oh my goodness... is it already time for the final YOP updates? I don't even think I'll bother as I've completed so little over the last year. I do love your cross stitch, Sam. I'm getting back to mine, and hopefully will have something to show soon.

Your granny square blanket is so colourful that it’s really going to brighten the room it lives in when finished. One of the reasons I love this group is learning things you didn’t even think about. You mentioning about the need to lower the feeder teeth on the sewing machine hasn’t occurred to me before. I’ve a pretty basic machine and no idea if that’s something my machine does but Cinna’s idea of renting one for free motion sounds good as well and I wonder if you have a place like that. I think you’ll be surprised just how many things you finished this last 12 months. There’s quite a few cute xs I miss seeing updates on because you’ve finished them. I love your autumnal ones best too.

I'm playing catch up as we had company for 5 days and we've been in the camper for the last week. Busy with stuff but not blog reading...yeesh!
You've made very good progress on all your craft projects...housework is overrated LOL.
