It's a good day for baking cookies so I did! I actually had the dough made but needed to roll them out and bake them. It was a recipe for Swedish Gingersnap Cookies from the New York Times.....excellent!
They are the best gingersnap cookies I've ever had.
I worked on Betsy Glover today as I didn't work on it last Sunday when it was scheduled..I finished my non-fiction book..............excellent and a keeper............I'm pretty certain that this was a re-read.............
My next non-fiction is the cookbook I got for my birthday from my daughter and her family............I love reading cookbooks that tell a story............I wonder what I'll make first?
I finished a sample magazine which was very good but I will probably never refurbish an old house again and the advertisers were quality but very high dollar! I love old houses and I love saving them and restoring them. I've done several. If you are in the market, this magazine is very thorough and very informative. I had a house similar to the one on the cover....mine was an old Dutch colonial and I spent years fixing it up but alas I had to leave it when I took another job out of state.
My next magazine is an old National Geographic..............
and my current fiction I am now reading is ............
Amazon states:From the #1 internationally bestselling author of The Miniaturist comes a captivating and brilliantly realized story of two young women—a Caribbean immigrant in 1960s London, and a bohemian woman in 1930s Spain—and the powerful mystery that ties them together.
England, 1967. Odelle Bastien is a Caribbean émigré trying to make her way in London. When she starts working at the prestigious Skelton Institute of Art, she discovers a painting rumored to be the work of Isaac Robles, a young artist of immense talent and vision whose mysterious death has confounded the art world for decades. The excitement over the painting is matched by the intrigue around the conflicting stories of its discovery. Drawn into a complex web of secrets and deceptions, Odelle does not know what to believe or who she can trust, including her mesmerizing colleague, Marjorie Quick.
Spain, 1936. Olive Schloss, the daughter of a Viennese Jewish art dealer and an English heiress, follows her parents to Arazuelo, a poor, restless village on the southern coast. She grows close to Teresa, a young housekeeper, and Teresa’s half-brother, Isaac Robles, an idealistic and ambitious painter newly returned from the Barcelona salons. A dilettante buoyed by the revolutionary fervor that will soon erupt into civil war, Isaac dreams of being a painter as famous as his countryman Picasso.
Raised in poverty, these illegitimate children of the local landowner revel in exploiting the wealthy Anglo-Austrians. Insinuating themselves into the Schloss family’s lives, Teresa and Isaac help Olive conceal her artistic talents with devastating consequences that will echo into the decades to come.
Rendered in exquisite detail, The Muse is a passionate and enthralling tale of desire, ambition, and the ways in which the tides of history inevitably shape and define our lives.
So far it reads well but I have no idea where it is going.
I worked on the porch today and got rid of more boxes and papers and put some things where they belonged which was not on the porch! LOL! I washed a load of rugs and did some other menial cleaning. I hope you had a good day and that you are safe and well and happy!
P.S. I started watching Tango in Halifax (a series) on Netflix....it's a drama but good so far.
Happy Trails!!!

I read The Muse and really enjoyed it. I love reading historical fiction.
The Muse sounds very good. Let me know how it continues to read. It sounds like it could be a PBS series!
I washed towels and vacuumed. Then I had a 2-hours video lesson with Piper, math, reading and writing today. Apparently I wasn't understanding her instructions correctly and I was told in no uncertain terms! :-) I thought your cookies were chocolate when I first saw them. I'm not a gingersnap person, but Dennis loves them. Pretty cross-stitch too. I need to come up with a new cross-stitch project to work on. I'm kind of in a blah phase where I seem to have no imagination. I always find books like the Sylvia Browne one interesting ever since my heart stopped and I got my pacemaker. I had an interesting experience at the time that I rarely talk about.
I hope you have a wonderful evening Sam.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Those cookies look wonderful. You and your cross stitch is always so lovely to look at. Restoring old homes sounds like fun but a lot of work. I could see where it could get quite expensive. Looking forward to what goodies you make from the new cookbook.
We had really nice weather the beginning of the week but might be getting some storms tonight. Haven't had gingersnap cookies in quite some time. Still hoping to get some molasses one of these days, but then again, haven't been shopping lately at any of the stores that might actually carry it. We are getting some lockdown restrictions starting Sunday. I've got two books going right now. One requires a lot of attention and re-reading of some parts. Take are and have a good weekend.
Your cookies look delicious. I attempted to bake some the other day. Did you see my post. Oh boy. I need a break maybe.
We still have Christmas Cookies in the freezer! Your cookies look good. Stay warm!
So glad you're enjoying Last Tango in Halifax. All the main characters are really good actors in their own rights (remember Derek Jacobi in 'I, Claudius'?). Love the look of the Old House Journal. I watch loads of USA fixer-upper progs, the latest of which is The Masters of Flip. I'm amazed at how much 'bang for your buck' you get over there in regard to house prices, especially the size of your backyards which are sometimes like football pitches! Have a good weekend my friend.
Hi Sam! Oh I love Sylvia Browne...I used to watch her tv show back in the early 2000's, I'd love to find that online somewhere. And what a great cookbook!!! How exciting! :) Your cookies look yummy!
