Hotter than hades....not that I would know...........yet....

Again, I was out early watering and then ran uptown to the Dollar Tree for a few items.  I picked up my grocery order at 10:00 a.m. and it was already 96.  By the time I got home it was 98. I got the mail and brought the groceries in and I was done with "outside" anything.  I feel so bad for the animals.  At least the lake is across the street so they can get water and "take a dip" if they want to.

I got another book in the mail...this is the second Reader's Digest Select Editions book I've gotten.  I search for a book I want and for the same price of a single book I can get the book I wanted plus 3 more.  The last Select Editions book I bought, I read all 4 stories and they were all good!  I'm hoping this one will be the same.  I ordered it because of the Sandra Dallas novel in it.  These are not the old Reader's Digest Condensed books.

Jeanna , my friend, has been asking for my potato soup recipe so here it is....I have to leave out the onion, pepper, and celery and I still like it so yours will taste even better I'm sure.  Here's the link to the recipe
If I weren't on a special diet I would go for the "loaded" potato soup here

I watched a video on You Tube from TicToc for some yummy cinnamon rolls which I want to try....I'll share but remember I have not made these yet..........also, they left a few directions sort of "iffy"....they used canned cinnamon rolls (Great Value or Pillsbury)...they greased a 9 X 13 pan, they had 15 rolls in it and they poured 1 cup of heavy whipping cream over it.  They then mixed 6 T melted butter, 1/2 C brown sugar and 2 t cinnamon and poured it over the rolls.  They covered it with foil and baked it at 375 F but they didn't say for how long and when they took it out of the oven there was no foil on it....so maybe they remove the foil like halfway through the baking?  Like I said, they left a few instructions out but I will try it sometime and let you know or you can try it and let me know! LOL!

I put all the groceries away, filled water bottles and now I need to go make some jello.  If I feel up to it I may make some cinnamon crescent rolls.

Just remember............

Extreme Heat Warnings!

It is 100...feels like 111 so they say.  I got out early this morning when it was only 77.  I watered everything and loaded some Thrift Store stuff in the car.  I got some more yarn in the mail....

This will be the cream colored squares that will go in between the colored ones in the Battenberg blanket.

As for reading, after I finished Sandra Dallas's Buster Midnight's Cafe, I started  this one for my fiction.....

Last night I finished Why Do Men Have Nipples and the medical info was very interesting but the conversations and lewd comments between the 2 male writers was offensive and very juvenile.

My new non-fiction is this book.....another book I've had for years........I love true adventure stories.....

I ordered groceries to pick up tomorrow morning.  My daughter and grands fly home tomorrow from Utah where they were visiting my ex's widow.  Amy called several times, which is nice as we usually talk every day.  Hopefully, the smoke will have cleared out of Iowa by the time they get home.

I'm working on cleaning and clearing and also writing up my plans for YOP 2023-24 for publishing this coming Sunday.  I also spent some time practicing some new crochet and knitting stitches for some new projects!

Here's your humor for the day........

Yarn and chair pads..........

I have men stopping at my house every day!  They  must be shy because they knock and then run away but they always leave me treasures!  LOL!

Yesterday I got yarn............Knitpicks Brava Worsted.....

Today they left me some nice chair pads.........unfortunately these men never pay for any of it but at least they deliver it............

I've been trying to teach myself some new skills or old ones I've forgotten.  It has been frustrating as I like to learn but when I waste hours and I still haven't learned it is very disappointing.  I will forge ahead though as I am usually pretty persistent and/or stubborn!  LOL!

Here's  a little humor for today...........

Mulch and daisies...........

This morning I finally got the other 8 bags of mulch unloaded from the Tahoe.  Yesterday, I unloaded 7....

This morning, I unloaded the remaining 8 bags into the garage.  If I lay them on the ground I will never be able to get them back up again.  So, I'm not sure I will need all 15 in the front.  I have areas in the back yard too.  So, I place them in my garage on items where I can roll them unto my arms.  As I age, I have found "tricks of the trade" to help me.  The other "trick" is that when I get tired, I quit.  That's why I did 7 yesterday and 8 bags today.  That's enough for today.  Tomorrow I'll start spreading it but again, I probably won't get it all done in one day.  That's okay, I'm just happy I can things for myself still.

The daisies are blooming so I had to bring these happy flowers into the house!

Here's a little information about yarn companies.  Last week I ordered yarns from 3 different places on the same day; Lovecrafts, Lion Brand, and Knit Picks.  I received Lion Brand and Lovecrafts before the end of the week.  Knit Picks said my yarn would arrive yesterday and then they revised it and said it would be tomorrow, Thursday.  Knit Picks was almost an entire week later than the other 2 companies and I still don't have it!  Just an FYI.

Dessert and stash.........

It's been a lovely Sunday and there are some storms rolling in which will make it perfect!  Friday, I went to Mountain Home and got 15 bags of  Scotts Naturescape mulch which doesn't fade....it was on sale too!  I picked up some yarn at Hobby Lobby............

As you can tell, I already started using one...........

The reason I went to Mountain Home was because I had my 6 month eye doctor appointment and all was fine.  I take hydroxychloroquine for my rheumatoid arthritis and it can affect your eyes so I get them checked twice a year.

I've also got more supplies coming in the mail for YOP (year of projects) 2023-24 which starts next Sunday.  If you would like to join just go to Ravelry (it's free to sign up) and find the Year of Projects group.  We usually post every Sunday what we worked on that past week.  If you have any trouble just let me know and I will help you. This is year 13 and I joined the 2nd year.  It's a fun way to share your creations with like-minded makers.  We make a yearly plan at the beginning and then watch how we all go "off the rails" with it...lol!  We try to stick to our plans but there are always "new shiny objects" and "rabbit holes" to go down.

I am putting my UFO's (unfinished objects) in an old picnic basket but unfortunately it won't be big enough to hold them all....lol!  But I will work with whatever will fit and as I finish things I can add more to the basket.

I made some red velvet cupcakes and now I need to go frost them..........

Happy Trails!!!

Still at it!!!

There's the Rose of Sharon blooming.

Today I vacuumed and scrubbed the laundry room floor.....some on my hands and knees.  I wish I could find my knee pads and also a Lori Holt book I'm looking for.  I keep hoping they'll turn up

Here's a closeup of the new water softener........you'd think for the price they would have some color choices but no.....just this color.........it does have a warning light when I'm running low on salt which is nice....

Tomorrow I travel to Mountain Home to see the eye doctor...my regular 6 month checkup.  I'll also be stopping at Lowes to get my favorite mulch, Scott's Naturescape with the non-fading color.  It's on sale right now for $3.33 a bag...yippee!  I will be filling up the Tahoe at that price!  I'm hoping to stop at Hobby Lobby if I have time.  I have to do it before the doctor appt. because they dilate my eyes and I like to go right home after that.

 Here's a little humor.....
