Rain and sun...just the right balance!

Many times around here it rains at night and then the sun comes out during the day.  Today was like that.  I didn't have to water and was able to get out early and burn more papers.......I have a shredder but it takes too long........burning is faster and I can do other things while it burns.  I tried to find a burn barrel but I never did and when I looked to buy one on Tractor Supply or Amazon they were way too expensive!  A few years back I bought a fire pit for $50 and it lasted for 3 years and it has a screen over the top so the ashes don't blow about.  I got another one for the same price, looked exactly the same but when I got it in the mail it was smaller!   Oh well, it's working for me...........

Here's the mulch I spread so far and it is not supposed to fade but you can tell the difference from 2 years ago...........those purple things are the Rose of Sharon flowers that have dropped off the tree.  There's so many I wonder if I could dry them and use  them for something?  I have 8 more bags of mulch to spread........

I spent this afternoon sewing BOM #5 and I'm hoping to finish so I can show it on YOP tomorrow...we'll see..............

My old iron (it was my Mother's) got dirty and stained some of my material.  I tried to scrub it off but it won't come off.  I'll have to order some of that iron cleaner....do any of you know of a good brand?  I did have an Oreck iron in the closet that I got "free" with an Oreck vacuum years ago and I never used it.  It is a strange iron...big but lightweight and has some kind of stand that is very strange.  It didn't come with instructions or I lost them but at least it is working until I get my old iron cleaned.

Lori Holt has a new cross stitch coming out in September, I think.  I want it now as it will take awhile to be ready for Halloween!  There's also a quilt pattern that will be coming out just like it too.

This is a free downloadable PDF on Fat Quarter Shop (they have lots of free XS patterns and quilt patterns)  I am planning on doing this one and I can start it NOW!  I am already looking forward to Fall! LOL!

Happy Trails!!!

Looks like another productive day, my friend. I saw that new Lori Holt cross stitch and quilt but I desperately need to finish what I have. Fat Quarter Shop makes me want to do it all...but I can't. Hope you are having a nice weekend. Looking forward to your YOP post tomorrow.

You get so much done! I think the mulch looks great.

I don't need anymore projects . . . BUT that patchwork witch has captured my heart. Maybe . . . .

Interesting that you burn your papers - we have a recycling program where we put unwanted paper - though I suppose if it's personal stuff, you wouldn't want to d that.

Love the purple mulch - don't think we can get that in AU.

Have you tried paracetamol tablets on the iron?? - heat the iron - hold a tablet (not a capsule of course) in tweezers and rub it over the marks on the iron.

Not at all tempted by Halloweeen projects - it is not a big thing here and most of us don't want it to be!

I shred all the papers that do n ot get recycled...I rip name and address off of most things. I bet you can find instructions for that iron online....I am not sure you will get the old one clean again...I had one like that and I never could use it with steam. Jen has a small iron that she uses for pressing quilt squares. It is cute and works well:)
